About us
We are an umbrella nonprofit that shapes, funds and supports humanitarian programs that create positive impact on some of the most vulnerable communities worldwide, with a specific focus on children and women.
We’re a group of people who believe in providing self-discovery, recreational and personal development tools to all human beings in order for them to heal and expand, independently of the circumstances they were born into.
We develop humanitarian programs and collaborate with already existing ones that work with kids and women living in extremely vulnerable situations. Through sports, arts and education we provide tools to recover from trauma and expand into their true potential.
We believe that it is possible to heal and create opportunities for ourselves when our basic needs are covered. We believe there are many tools to help us thrive and want to bring them closer to those who have gone through the unimaginable. We believe in doing things with tons of love and compassion.
OUR STORY
In 2010 we created LONGBOARD GIRLS CREW (LGC), a community aiming to create safe spaces and get more girls and womxn into longboarding. Ten years later, the impact LGC have had around the world is ground-breaking, developing communities in 60 countries, reaching more that 25 million people, getting hundreds of thousands of girls, women, men, trans and non-binary people into skate and longboarding and changing the way women were portrayed until then: from extremely sexualized to skill and diversity-focused.
Inspired by the huge and positive impact longboarding and LGC have had in the life of so many people around the world, the nonprofit LONGBOARD WOMEN UNITED is created with the purpose of providing aid, funds and healing through sports, arts and educational programs in some of the most vulnerable places on the planet.
ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS
We’ve developed new social and inclusive projects on a global scale and also partnered-up with existing initiatives to support their work and expand it.
We have active running projects in orphanages in India, with girls in at-risk areas in Malaysia, working with kids and teenagers with physical and intellectual disabilities in Chile, integrating refugees with locals in Belgium and building a skatepark and female programs in Ghana. Plus, an online program to help women heal from sexual abuse, available for everyone with an internet connection.
Each one of our programs is tailor-made, adapting the solution provided to the local issues and run by local Project Managers.
Join us by supporting, donating, volunteering or sharing our work and become the change we want to see in the world!
